Hello,
A Message from Our 2005/2006 Moderator:
I Still need you. You still need me. God is at work in our midst.
Fall, in the NAF, is maybe the most beautiful time of the whole year.
I enjoy the crisp, cool weather, the change in the color of the leaves, and of course football. (Sorry New Englanders, Colts
will take it all this fall!) But there are more important things happening.
On the theme of "I need you, you need me", a few weeks ago a good number
of NAF pastors traveled to Gloucester, MA to encourage our New England churches and pastors. I don't know about everyone else
but I came away very encouraged. It was so good to meet Pastors Jake Kocis and Dave Warner from the Island Pond GBC. God is
really working up there near the Canadian border. Pastor Chris Skowronek is seeing God break through traditional religious
culture in Hartford, Connecticut through relational evangelism. But the soil is still hard sometimes. Pastor Jack Brown and
his congregation in Gloucester, well actually Essex, really made the pastors feel welcome. They are growing and making a spiritual
impact in their area. All three churches have a vision to see more churches planted in their respective areas.
I believe any way we can come together to encourage one another in ministry,
work together to plant new churches, and cooperate to help young people grow in the Lord is worth time, money and even some
sacrifice. Recently we have seen churches come together to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. If your congregation
is thinking of sending down a group to help, please contact webmaster@gbnaf.org We might be able to combine efforts and be
more efficient in our effect.
One last item of interest. This coming year's NAF celebration will focus
on our 50th year anniversary as a "district" or fellowship. Most of us haven't been in the NAF that long but some of you might
have some memories or connections with someone who remembers. Let Pastor Jeff Hoffard know about it, rjhoffard@earthlink.net
. You might just help him plan some special moments at our celebration on March 19, 2006 at Elizabethtown GBC.
Our pastors have enjoyed the Eastern Focus retreat, four men were examined
for licensure, and two for ordination. Churches are out proclaiming the good news. God is good. Let's keep working together.
A cord of three strands is not easily broken.
