A Message from Our NAF 2005-2006 Moderator
"A Cord of Three Strands"
"A cord of three strands" can not easily be broken. There are ministries
that local churches can do best on their own. Do them. There are times and ministries that are better accomplished in cooperation
with others. Such is our NAF. We are close enough to do several things together.
I see these as priorities:
1. When a local church is hurting or between pastors geographic
close churches can come along side and physically pray with and meet with another local church for worship, fellowship, and
encouragement. Is your GBC close to such a church that you can reach out? Do it.
2. Church planting. I remember several years ago our church
was not ready to plant another church. But Peter Smith was ready to start one in Pennsburg. He couldn't do it alone. We couldn't
help alone. Several churches as well as NAM and GBNAM came together. I remember the boost it gave to our church to be directly
involved in the church start, even though it wasn't "ours." We have several new church plants in the NAF, and one or two not
quite ready for prime-time launch. Is your local church in a position to directly help one of these plants to take off? Do
it.
3. Camp Conquest. I remember as a kid growing up in the
NAF summer camp was a spiritually significant experience. If each local church sent 3-4 adults to camp to help in the kitchen
or as counselors for a week there would be more than enough staff to make summer camp spiritually significant in a child's
life this summer. Do it.
4. Teen ministry. There is something about becoming a
teenager that demands more from a family, and a church. Local church youth leader, the Northern Atlantic Youth Fellowship
wants to come alongside your ministry to help you to evangelize and minister to your teens. Consider contacting the NAYF about
how your teens can help and be helped by making "a cord of three strands".
5. Networking ideas. This newsletter is part of a new
effort by the NAF to link churches together by sharing information, events, needs, and ideas. If you have input to help us
be a stronger "cord" contact us through www.gbnaf.org or e-mail us at webmaster@gbnaf.org
Truly, a cord of three strands is harder to break. I do need you. You
do need me. let's see what God can do through us together.
For the great NAF, Larry T. Humberd, Moderator
